Glide Brush

Easydo

The dish brush reinvented.

Traditional dish brushes are made of a minimum of three different elements glued or stapled together: a base with holes, bristles and an agent to bind these together. This involves three different materials, which ultimately means brushes are hardly ever recyclable. Glide is a dish brush made differently. The patented design that Makers Department created for Easydo can be manufactured utilising alternative materials and methods that allow it to be fully recyclable.

Additionally, the existence of gaps between bristles and holes in the traditional brush facilitates germ and bacterial growth from the first day of use, generally defeating its primary purpose of cleaning and eliminating germs.

The Process

Our objective was to simplify the classic brush design by reducing the quantity of bristles and re-thinking the way these are shaped, whilst providing an ergonomic handle for a comfortable and effective cleaning experience.

The project required thinking outside of the box and extensive material research and prototyping. It is possibly the finest example in the Makers Department portfolio of how we can challenge manufacturing engineering (particularly tool-making and moldflow) in order to achieve a unique product. The commercial version of the Glide Brush is produced using recycled materials and can be recycled at its end of life.
