Pebbl Brush

GRASP

The game-changing bathtime brush for kids.

Pebbl is a refillable silicone brush that is designed for small hands (kids) and big hands (carers) alike. Waste less soap with its unique dispensing mechanism that releases soap directly on the bristles, making it easy to wash away any dirt or mess your child has made.

The Process

GRASP approached us with a brief to design a bath brush that is fun and engaging for kids, encouraging them to become more independent when looking after their personal hygiene. We needed to design a shape that was comfortable for kids to hold, while also allowing the possibility of parents using the brush to wash their kids. To achieve this, we used 3D printed prototypes and added plasticine to help create a comfortable grip and adjusted the CAD accordingly.

The brush itself has a little well to store liquid soap, and holes in the base of the brush to directly dispense this soap onto the bristles. We therefore needed to ensure the brush is water-sealed to stop water getting into the brush and diluting the soap, whilst also still allowing soap to be dispensed. We did several user tests and iterations to get the dispensing just right; not having to squeeze too tightly, but also not having the soap drip out when not in use.

The look and feel of the brush was also an important consideration, as GRASP wanted it to fit into bathrooms without looking out of place or overly childish. The design we achieved is modern and is available in a range of four colours to appeal to kids and carers alike. The brush itself is made from a translucent silicone material that is soft to touch and adds a luxury element. It’s also completely free from BPA, latex, lead, and phthalates so is safe to use on your little ones.

Packaging & Visualisation

We also supported GRASP on the packaging design: creating versatile packaging that could be posted directly to consumers from online purchases and could also be sold on shelf in stores. To achieve this we designed a simple box with inserts to hold the brush, hook and cord in place, and an outer sleeve that provides information about the project for in-store retail purposes.

We created illustrations of different internal layouts, then produced cardboard prototypes to test. This allowed us to choose the solution that both looked good and protected the product during shipping.

Lastly, we created visuals of the brush to use on social media, packaging and in advertising. These visuals show the colour options, how the product is used and highlight small key details that might otherwise be missed.
